DISCOVER WHAT XR CAN MEAN FOR YOU

Alliander Public Lighting &

Electrical Safety

Working on electrical infrastructure and public lighting requires craftsmanship and constant attention to safety. In this VR training, developed in collaboration with Alliander, technicians practice identifying and resolving public transportation disruptions in a realistic, fully simulated environment.

Electrical Safety

Serious XR is proud to announce a partnership with the construction company Heijmans. This collaboration introduces innovative learning opportunities for their operations through the NEN 3140 VP Virtual Reality (VR) application, specifically designed for toolbox meetings.

What are you learning

in this training?

Participants step into the role of an electrical technician responding to an OV malfunction. The scenario reflects real-life field conditions: working outdoors, handling electrical installations, dealing with distractions, and following strict safety procedures. Sound, vibration, environmental details and even physical obstacles are integrated to make the experience feel as close to reality as possible.

The training was developed together with experienced technicians and internal departments, ensuring that the scenarios accurately reflect daily practice. This makes the VR training not only realistic, but directly applicable to real work situations.

Learning objectives

  • Safely approach and assess an OV malfunction on location

  • Correctly prepare for the task, including:

    • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Using the right tools and measuring equipment

  • Identify potential electrical hazards in the environment

  • Perform fault detection steps in the correct order

  • Safely operate within electrical installations, such as:

    • Switching and measuring procedures

    • Correct placement of tools and equipment

  • Maintain situational awareness while working under realistic conditions

  • Build confidence before performing tasks in the field

Why VR

VR allows technicians to practice complex and potentially dangerous procedures without real-world risk. By training in a realistic simulation, participants gain experience faster, make mistakes safely, and build a strong foundation before working on live installations. For organisations facing technician shortages and increasing training demand, VR helps reduce dependency on experienced field staff while maintaining training quality. It supports faster onboarding, consistent learning experiences and scalable skill development.
